Powerful improvements for Copy Job
Copy Job has been a go-to tool for simplified data ingestion in Microsoft Fabric, offering a seamless data movement experience from any source to any destination. Whether you need batch or incremental copying, it provides the flexibility to meet diverse data needs while maintaining a simple and intuitive workflow.
We continuously refine Copy Job based on customer feedback, enhancing both functionality and user experience. In this update, we’re introducing three key UX improvements designed to streamline your workflow and boost efficiency.
New UX Improvements in Copy Job
1. Enhanced Column Mapping for File-Based Destinations
Responding to customer feedback, we have introduced support for column mapping in file-based destinations. This is particularly useful for table-to-file mapping, allowing users to:
- Add new columns.
- Remove unwanted columns.
- Modify destination column names.
This enhancement provides greater control over column formatting when writing to file-based destinations, making it easier to structure exported data to fit specific requirements.
2. Preview Data Before Incremental Copy Selection
When using the Incremental Copy mode, users can now preview the source table before selecting the incremental column. This preview feature helps users quickly inspect their data, making it easier to identify the best candidate column for incremental updates.
By offering a quick snapshot of the data, this feature improves clarity and decision-making when configuring incremental copy jobs.
3. Search Filter for Table and Column Mapping
Navigating long lists of tables and columns can be time-consuming. To improve this experience, we’ve added search filters to both table and column mappings:
- Table Mapping: users can now search for specific source tables to filter and locate them instantly, eliminating the need to scroll through an extensive list.
- Column Mapping: users can filter columns based on source column names or data types. For example, if a user wants to change all source datetime columns to date columns in the destination, they can now do so effortlessly without manually scanning the entire column list.
These small but impactful improvements significantly enhance usability, making table and column selection more efficient than ever.
With these UX improvements, Copy Job in Microsoft Fabric continues to evolve, providing a more seamless, efficient, and user-friendly experience. These enhancements eliminate unnecessary friction, reduce manual effort, and make data copying more intuitive than ever.
We’re committed to making data ingestion in Fabric as effortless as possible, ensuring that users can focus on what truly matters—deriving insights and driving business value. Try out these new features today and experience the difference!
