Copilot and AI Capabilities will be accessible to all paid SKUs in Microsoft Fabric

We are excited to announce that we will be removing the F64 SKU requirement to use Copilot and AI capabilities in Microsoft Fabric. This means that on April 30th, customers using paid SKUs F2 and above will have access to AI capabilities like Copilot, Fabric data agents, AI Functions and more. For data professionals and business users, this change puts the power of advanced AI experiences right at your fingertips. 

What this means for you 

AI capabilities in Fabric are purposefully designed to help users create, collaborate, and innovate more effectively. From generating data visualizations in Power BI to enhancing automation and insights in Microsoft Fabric, Copilot brings a new level of ease and intelligence to everyday tasks. Similarly, Fabric data agents help enhance data-driven decision-making by empowering users to interact with enterprise data using natural language. Fabric data agents understand your organization’s unique data context, and can significantly reduce the time it takes to generate, explore, and discover data insights.  

As we roll this update out, you will be able to use the resources you already have to enable Copilot and AI capabilities within your existing capacity. Expanding access to these capabilities means that more users can benefit from the productivity gains of GenAI to streamline workflows, generate insights, and drive impactful decisions. 

Why this matters 

We’re committed to giving more users access to Microsoft’s AI tools and technologies. Recently, we launched Fabric Copilot capacity—a new feature that broadens access to Copilot features across different tiers in Fabric, simplifies setup and user management, and consolidates spending. In the coming weeks, users on F2 and above will not only be able to access AI capabilities but also have the flexibility to utilize Fabric Copilot Capacity. These updates lower the barrier to entry, allowing organizations of all sizes to tap into the transformative potential of AI. This shift empowers businesses to operate more efficiently, enabling teams to focus on what truly matters—solving challenges, uncovering opportunities, and driving growth. (Note that the requirement for Fabric Copilot Capacity remains at F64 since this is intended to be a capacity shared across many workspaces)

How to get started 

Activating Copilot and AI capabilities couldn’t be easier. Since it leverages your existing capacity, there’s no need to purchase additional resources. For customers based in the US and EU regions, Copilot is enabled by default. For customers outside the US and EU, simply navigate to your admin settings in Microsoft Fabric or Power BI and enable the Copilot and Azure OpenAI configuration. In just a few clicks, you’ll unlock a world of possibilities, tailored to meet the needs of your organization.
