On-premises data gateway May 2025 release

Here is the May 2025 release of the on-premises data gateway (version 3000.270).

New Features

Fabric Pipeline Copy Activity – Lakehouse Connector Now Supports Column Mapping for Delta Table
The Fabric Pipeline Copy activity now supports column mapping when using the Lakehouse connector to write to Delta tables. This enhancement allows users to map source columns to different target columns, enabling greater flexibility in handling schema differences during data movement.

Additional endpoint for on-premises data gateway communication

The on-premises data gateway needs to communicate with the specified endpoint for enabling certain Mashup features. Ensure outbound traffic to the endpoint is allowed according to your cloud type to receive the latest updates in the future. If the gateway cannot reach the endpoint, it won’t be able to access these features controlled by the service. Learn more from Adjust communication settings for the on-premises data gateway

Connect to the Vertica database with the user-installed ODBC driver

Starting from the May 2025 release of on-premises data gateway, you need to install the Vertica ODBC driver on your gateway machine to connect to a Vertica database in Power BI semantic model, Power BI Dataflow (Gen1) and Dataflow Gen2, which provides the latest capability. If this driver is not installed, an error will occur. If necessary, you can revert to the previous built-in driver experience by updating the gateway configuration setting. Power BI Desktop Compatibility

This update brings the on-premises data gateway up to date with the May 2025 release of Power BI Desktop.

This version of the gateway will ensure that the reports that you publish to the Power BI Service and refresh via the gateway will go through the same query execution logic/run-time as in the May version of Power BI Desktop. View the data connectivity section of Power BI’s May 2025 feature summary for updates on relevant connectors.

Thank you!
