Efficient and integrated development with Real-Time Intelligence ALM
We are excited to announce all Fabric Real-Time Intelligence items (Eventstream, Eventhouse, KQL Database, Realtime Dashboard, Query set & Activator) for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) & REST APIs capabilities!
ALM consists of Git Integration and Deployment Pipeline. Git Integration enables the synchronization of a workspace’s items to a Git Repo, both ways (i.e. pushing Fabric content to Git or pushing Git content to Fabric Workspace). Deployment Pipeline allows you to deploy a workspace’s items to another workspace (in a typical Dev->Test->Prod fashion). Those two capabilities enable automation with low touch since Fabric is able to reverse engineer existing item configuration into a definition to persist in Git (or deploy to another workspace).

REST APIs allows you to invoke items’ Create/Read/Update/Delete (CRUD) capacity for automation: e.g. create a real time dashboard, update an Eventstream, etc. This enables scenarios where you want to automate deployment and / or forbid direct user configuration by sequencing API calls. Learn more by referencing the KQL Database APIs blog post and the REST APIs for Fabric Eventstream blog post.
With all Real-Time Intelligence items being available, you can now automate, deploy and integrate with Git your real-time solutions!
As an example, you could define a solution with an Eventstream feeding an Eventhouse which feeds a real time dashboard and triggers Activator. This would be defined in your dev workspace. When ready, you could deploy that to your production workspace with each item having its dependencies resolved in the production workspace.
A very down to Earth example is to simply track changes in Git. This could be as simple as tracking changes in a Query set, a real time dashboard or any RTI components. Even if you never use ALM for deployment, just the ability of tracking configuration changes in Git can be very valuable, allowing you to rollback unwanted changes and have an audit trail of changes.
