Announcing the General Availability of Folder in Workspace

In March of this year, we released the preview of workspace folder. As an organizational unit in the workspace, folder enables you to efficiently organize and manage your items. Since its release, we are thrilled to observe the high level of engagement and the positive feedback from people. It is incredibly rewarding to know that this feature is deeply loved and actively utilized by so many of you.

After several months of improving the quality and addressing feedback, we are very excited to announce that the folder in workspace is now generally available!

What’s new?

New filter behavior

Since folders were introduced in workspace, sometimes it can be hard to find items because they are all hidden in the hierarchy. We have upgraded the filter behavior and now you can filter through your entire workspace or through a specific folder with all its nested folders. The column ‘Location’ shows the path of objects.

Create items in folders directly

With the new item panel, you can create items directly inside folder without leaving workspace and folder context.

What’s coming soon?

Folder support in Git integration: Git integration will support workspace folder soon and the folder hierarchy will be reflected in the Git repository.

REST API of workspace folder: REST APIs provide the capabilities to use APIs to create and manage folder which empowers automation scenarios and seamless integration with other systems and tools. We plan to start public preview in next few months.

We are committed to continuously improving workspace experience. Please stay tuned for more coming updates and feel free send us your feedback in this area through Fabric feedback channels.
